The Perfect Wedding
You have dreamed about your perfect wedding day for years and during
the planning you will go over every detail to make sure each and every
part of it will be in a word "PERFECT".
I am here to spare you the stress of over thinking your wedding and
although I agree in planning, reviewing details and thinking of several
scenarios ultimately something is going to go wrong. This is the
number one reason you hire a wedding planner with experience. Not
just a planner who loves weddings or one who planned her own
wedding, but someone who has worked through her share of wedding
mishaps, stepped up and fixed them without extra stress or drama.
When they happen at each and every wedding, I look at the bride
and tell them the same thing each time "Ok, now that the one bad
thing has happened, we are good to go for the rest of the day!".
Curious what goes wrong? They vary in intensity of impact, but all
were resolved and the party went on. Here are a few examples:
1. The caterers left open the venue doors and the butter cream frosting
on the 6 layer cake softened so much that the cake sank. We removed
2 layers (still served by the staff) and fixed the cake with flowers.
2. The flower girl and ring bearers were refusing to go down the aisle.
We showed them the rainbow goldfish we had at their seats and down
they went to enjoy their treat.
3. The groom didn't check his tux bag ahead of time (we were not in
Austin) and arrived at the ceremony without pants. Between all the
groomsmen and ushers we were able to find him pants that fit. We
had the black socks in our kit that he also forgot.
4. The mother of the bride forgets the license and the heirloom
jewelry from the bride's recently deceased grandmother at the hotel.
All the bridal party needs to take photos and can't leave to go to the
hotel or the timing will be off for the start of the ceremony. We are
able to take the mom's key, get the items and return with time to
cue the start of the ceremony.
5. We are short 1 bouquet, but we know how to make a bouquet
with the extra flowers on site. This has been done countless times.
6. The grandmother forgets the lasso (this happened 2 weeks in a row)
but we have a large amount of ivory ribbon in our kit and know how to
make a lasso.
7. You have 300 guests show up instead of the guaranteed 250 guests.
We worked with the caterers and were able to control the portions and
make the buffet stretch.
8. The best man forgets the wedding rings. I send my assistant to the
hotel to pick them up while the preliminary bridal party photos continue.
9. The minister's car breaks down and he calls my number listed on the
timeline. We are in Fredericksburg so time is an issue. We ask if there
is a licensed minister in the audience, the groom's uncle is thrilled to
perform their ceremony, but we are also ordained and were ready to
step in to perform the service.
10. My most recent mishap, one of the bride's attendants accidentally
hits the bride in the eye with her camera causing a gash. We are able to
stop the bleeding right at the eye brow, use liquid band aid and make
sure the photographer can photo shop the cut out of the photos.
So, now imagine all those things happening on your wedding day and
how you would handle it without a planner to take away the worries.
Relax and enjoy the planning,
