Be Thankful!
I am discovering we all approach the holiday season completely
differently for a variety of reasons. Some do not have family, others are
not able to spend it with loved ones, some families are splintered and
there are many who are alone. Each and every one of us should take a
moment to count our blessings. To have a home, friends, family, food,
your health, and dreams to look forward to are all bountiful blessings.
What I am grateful for:
My amazing sons
My husband of nearly 20 years
Freedom to worship openly
My health
My sweet, funny dogs
A home in a great neighborhood
Food in my pantry
Friends I can call upon day or night
Brides who let me be a part of their wedding days
The inner peace watching a sunset gives me, especially over water
That I can buy whatever my family needs and still have the ability
to sponsor several families each holiday
What makes me realize I'm blessed?
Knowing a very special past bride is currently fighting terminal cancer
and my heart is breaking for her family and young daughter.
Several people I know who can't see the good in most days
The hate so many have in their hearts and those who have no hope
Hearing so many are trapped in violent and abusive relationships
Those who are struggling with addictions and mental illness
All the families we collect food for, especially during this time of year
who need our help to feed their children.
Families that cannot afford to buy their children Christmas gifts or even
the basics like a bed, pillow or sheets
Please take a full minute to look around at all that you have, know it could
all end tomorrow and that there are no guarantees for what the future holds.
Have a giving spirit, share your blessings, and pass along your good fortune
to those in need.

I hope you have an amazing holiday,
Barbara
