Your Texas Marriage License

It's definitely peak wedding season and couples are going to their local
licensing offices to apply for their marriage licenses. Most of my couples
live outside of Austin in other counties and others live out of state. The
biggest tip I can offer is to avoid going in for your license on a Wednesday.
The soonest you can get your license is 30 days prior to your wedding and no
later than 3 days prior to the wedding day, making Wednesdays crazy busy.

If you live out of state you need to make sure and arrange to arrive in Texas
the Tuesday of your wedding week to get your license unless you can come
30 days out from the wedding date. We are very fortunate that you can get
your license in any Texas county because we aren't restricted on the license
coming from the county you are marrying in. So, if you live in Houston but are
getting married in Austin you can get your license in Houston.

Be sure that both of you go in for your license with valid ID and cash. The fees
vary per county and there is also a price break if you bring in proof of premarital
counseling in order to reduce the rate of divorce.

I hope that makes the process easier for you,
Barbara
