Wedding Rain Plans

We have experienced such a severe drought in Central Texas and with a threat of 30% rain
chance it may give a bride a false sense of security for outside weddings. Hiring an experienced
wedding planner who has seen very quick thunderstorms roll in and threaten to ruin a wedding
day is a crucial decision to protect your wedding dream. As an Austin wedding planner for the
past 18 years, Barbara's Brides has always tried to keep the bride's vision at the forefront of our
design, but as a professional we have to have a beautiful rain plan in mind just in case. We
discuss it early on in the planning so that it isn't such an emotional choice when the storms
threaten the wedding vision. There are key points to handle this type of situation:

1. A wedding planner who has your best interest at heart and knows how to implement a
fantastic look for your wedding day.
2. An amazing team of vendors who will step up and knock out the new plan without any
complaints or hesitation.
3. Having the bride and family on board that the weather is out of your control and be
content that you are getting married to the one you love surrounded by family and friends.

Last night's wedding was planned with a beautiful ceremony in the courtyard at the Mansion
on Judge's Hill. Scattered thunderstorms can be so hit or miss since you never know where
they will hit and how long they will last. As much as we tried to move forward with outside,
Mother Nature had an entirely different plan for us.

As soon as I have the photos I will post them, but suffice to say it was really a stunning
ceremony for Lauren and Brendan. Many thanks to our wonderful team of vendors who all
worked together to make it happen in a very short window of time.

Venue: Lauren and her team at the Mansion on Judge's Hill
Florist: Bouquets of Austin who stayed for the flip from a fully set reception to rain plan
ceremony inside and then back to reception mode
Music: Angelic Strings
Photography: A la Vie Photography, Pam Hults was such a trooper with the constant rain,
working around the rain concern and her enthusiasm with the ceremony change inside.

It was a great night and my couple was very happy, which is all that matters.
