Hahmojen tunnetilakäyrät olivat äänikirja mielenkiintoisia kuin rikkain neulaus, täynnä syvyyttä ja pinta-alaista tekstiiriä. Polaccon työ tässä on pettymys. Tarina on epätasainen, ja hahmot ovat kehittymättömiä.

Kirjan teemat identiteetistä ja kuulumisesta olivat ajatuksia herättäviä ja oivaltavia, tarjoten monimuotoisen ja monisäikeisen tutkimuksen ihmiskokemuksesta. Kun luin, tunsin olevani köysin tiellä, tasapainottaen toiveen ja epätoivon välillä, kuin esiintyjä korkealla langalla. Vaikka se ei ollutkaan täydellinen, kirjan monet vahvuudet olivat paljon vahvoja heikkouksia vastaan, kirjat teki siitä kiinnostavan, ajatuksia herättävän lukemisen.
